Going to practice is not just another Saturday morning. It is something we all look forward to as an end to a week and beginning of the weekend. We all are archers for the same reason: to achieve the best scores we can in practice and at tournaments. I joined a couple of years ago and still look forward to the practice days. Of course it is best when the sun is out and the wind is less then a breeze, but we shoot in all weathers.

And yes, there's tournaments! I never thought I would be going to a tournament with my ability but even with my level of skill I am as welcome as the seasoned veteran, and that is archery, a sport but also a social event, and you make it both.

So what is the club like and what is a Saturday morning like? Firstly the club is friendly and supporting for beginners and for the seasoned archer. As we archers develop our abilities there is always support and somebody there to help and advise.

So, after I joined, Saturday mornings have not been the same as each week it brings its own challenge. Log on next week and find out how easy it is to join Southampton Archery Club and see what a fun and interesting sport it is.
